The Undersea Hunter is one of three
boats belonging to the Undersea Hunter Group. The crossing from Puntarenas to
Cocos Island takes up to 36 hours and is easy to handle on the comfortable boat.
The boat offers space for 14 guests. All cabins are air conditioned and have
a bathroom with shower/toilet. There is a saloon which offers enough space to
eat and to rest. The sun deck is quite small but spacious enough. Everything
is very well maintained and clean.
The dive platform is big and offers enough space to get ready for diving. Extra
space is available for cameras that offers perfect conditions to carefully prepare
the gear. The divers are split in two groups which are taken by so-called Pangas,
small motorboats, to the different dive sites.
The crew offers the best service you can wish for. The food, which is a very
important point on a live-aboard, is from a high quality. The Undersea Hunter
can be recommended without restrictions of any kind.

The dive sites around
Cocos Island are rightly considered as some of the best around the world. Cocos
Island is a volcano island and therefore the reefs are made out of volcano stone.
The island appears to be from another time and one would not be surprised if
a dinosaur would suddenly jump out of the green.
Cocos Island is famous for its scalloped hammerhead sharks. You can see them
alone, in small groups or in big schools. Apart from the hammerheads you can
see Galapagos sharks and silky sharks. During some months there is a good chance
to encounter whale sharks. With some luck you will see a tiger shark and with
some more luck even a humpback whale. No rarity is to watch dolphins hunting.
Another highlight are the night dives at Manuelita Coral Garden where you can
enjoy countless numbers of hunting whitetip reef sharks. Some of the most popular
dive sites are Alcyone, Dirty Rock and Punta Maria. Shark encounters are possible
at every dive site.
Each dive at Cocos Island is an adventure and can make divers addicted. No wonder
there are so many repeater guests who keep coming back again and again to Cocos
Island.
