The island Helengeli lies in the northern part of the Nort Male Atoll far away from other tourist islands. The island can easily be reached from Male by speedboat or by seaplane. The island is narrow and quite long. One part is reserved for the guests and the other part is for the staff.
There are 25 double bungalows (50 rooms) with an typical open maldivian bathroom. The bungalows are convieniently furnished. The food in the open-air restaurant is very good - most of the time you can enjoy the meals from the buffet. Once a week - depending on the weather - the buffet is on the beach and you can enjoy your dinner under the romantic starry sky.
You don't need any shoes on Helengeli and you can wear leisure clothes - that's anyway the most comfortable thing to wear in the Maldives! Helengeli is a nice small island where you can really relax and enjoy your holiday. We visited Helengeli in October 2006 for 2 weeks and we could have stayed much longer!

The team of Ocean-Pro Helengeli takes you to about 30 different divesites. As there is no other tourist island close-by there is normally no other boat on the same divesite. The housereef can be reached by 6 entry points. You can either grab your gear yourself or let it bring to one of the entry points. Then you reach the housereef by swimming from the beach through the lagoon.
The divesites are diversified. From steep walls with beautiful overhangs to wonderful Thilas you can find everything. Also the diving varies from easy slow current to strong current, what is actualy typical for the Maldives. Most of the reefs are covered with hard corals but you can also find stunning soft corals where you feel like in a fairy-tale. We were very lucky and could see many grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, manta rays and eagle rays. At this time there were also 2 lovely frogfish together on one spot.
Even we have seen already a lot we can highly recommend Helengeli for good diving!
