In the middle of January 2003 we went on a 6 days live aboard to the Similan Islands with Sea Bees Diving.
The live aboard started at Chalong Bay with the boat MV Marco Polo. This boat offers space for 14 guests, has different double cabins, 2 toilets, 3 showers und lots of place to sit outside as well as in the lounge.
Unique on this boat are the dive guides - what these guys offer is simply sensational! Although they gave a lot about fun and entertainment, they never forgot to think about security or good service. Also to be mentioned is the tasty food - the two cooks prepared diversified menus which were always delicious.
The Similan Islands are mostly built on stone and look like paradise. We could go on land once in a while to have a short walk on the white sandy beaches or on the rocks.

The Similan Islands are known as some of the top dive sites of Thailand. A lot of dive sites like for example Elephant Head are stone formations, which look like art sculptures. But there are also lots of coral reefs, which are perfect to enjoy during your safety stop on 5 meters.
Our favourite dive site during this live aboard was the dive site called Richelieu Rock. You can swim around it and there are so many different things to see that you can't decide where to start looking at. The dive site Koh Tachai was very exciting because we had to fight with strong current - but it was fun anyway (or even because of the current…)!
We saw batfish, zebra moray eels, napoleons, barracudas, zebra sharks, turtles, nudibranchs, mantis shrimps etc. etc.
The dive sites are from easy to demanding, so it was very diversified. We will go back to the Similan Islands for sure, because it's worth it.
