Most tourists who come to Punta Cana
or Bavaro will stay most of the time in their all-inclusive-hotels during their
holidays. A lot of these resorts offer a wide range of entertainment so that
nobody will get bored.
The area around Punta Cana / Bavaro is characterized by its beautiful beach
stretching for miles and miles.
For people who like to see more than just the one resort they are staying at
they can visit El Cortecito, a nice small village at the beach with good restaurants
and affordable souvenir shops.
Further worthwhile trips are either to Macao, where you will find pure nature
on a wonderful beach. Or visit Altos de Chavon at the South Coast of the Dominican
Republic. This is a copy of a Mediterranean village, where you will find pure
romantic. It's a good idea to stay there for dinner to enjoy the special atmosphere
in a beautiful environment.

Most of the dive sites
around Punta Cana are shallow und reach the depth of 12 to 14 meters.
A lot of the dive sites consist of coral blocks which can easily be surrounded.
With a bit of luck you can meet nurse sharks, sting rays or eagle rays here.
Some dive sites are also made of stone and coral formations with pretty caves
and swim-throughs.
A special place is the wreck of the Astron which is not far away from the beach
and can also be seen from the surface.
Recommendable are the dive sites around Catalina at the South Coast of the country.
It's a beautiful unoccupied island in the Caribbean Sea 2 bus hours from Punta
Cana.
