In May 2000 we went on a 5-day liveaboard with Taka Dive. The boat's name was Taka II and started from the port of Cairns. The tour started with the famous Cod Hole, then out into the Coral Sea and on the way back along the reefs of the Great Barrier Reef.
The boat offers place for 26 guests. There are two double cabins with own shower/toilet on the upper deck. On the lower deck there are cabins with two or four beds. Those do not offer own bathrooms but there are two toilets and two showers to share.
On the upper deck you can find a lot of space to relax, laze around and enjoy the sun between the dives.
The dive platform is spacious - everyone has enough place to get ready for the dives.
The food was various and delicious and there was always enough to satisfy the diver's hunger!!!

We spend 5 days on a live aboard with Taka Dive. The first destination was the famous "Cod Hole" which lies north of Cairns. Huge potato cods live there and they joined us during the whole dive.
The next day the boat went out to the Osprey Reef which lies in the middle of the Coral Sea where visibility of 30 to 50 meters can be expected.
At North Horn there was a shark feeding on the programme, which attracted grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks as well as hammerhead sharks in dozens. It was a fascinating as well as debatable experience.
On our way back to Cairns we could dive the beautiful Ribbon Reefs which are simply fantastic. Besides fascinating coral formations, there is of course a lot of fish as parrotfish, lionfish, pufferfish, boxfish, cuttlefish, groupers, barracudas and also lots of different shoals of fish. It was a great and recommendable trip!!!
